Office of the Chief

A message from Chief Edward Fuller

Dear Residents and Friends of Emelle,

It is my honor to serve as Chief of the Emelle Police Department. Emelle may be one of the smallest towns in Alabama, but the people here have big hearts, deep roots, and a strong sense of looking out for one another. Our department exists to protect that spirit.

Our mission is simple: to keep every resident, visitor, and family in Emelle safe while treating everyone with fairness, dignity, and respect. In a community this close, policing is about relationships. I want each of you to know our officers by name, and to feel comfortable coming to us with a concern, a question, or a tip — no matter how small it may seem.

We work hand in hand with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and our neighboring agencies, and we rely on you, too. If you see something that does not look right, please let us know. Together we can make sure Emelle remains a place where children can play outside and neighbors can rest easy at night.

My door at City Hall is always open. Thank you for your trust and your partnership in keeping our town safe.

Edward Fuller

Chief of Police, Town of Emelle

What we do

Department services

  • Reports & Records

File a non-emergency report or request a copy of an incident or accident report by calling the department or visiting City Hall.

  • Residential Checks

Going out of town? Let us know and officers can include your home in routine checks while you are away.

We work closely with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office and state agencies to keep Emelle and the surrounding area safe.

  • Safety Education

Home security tips, scam awareness for seniors, and safety talks for community groups and young people.
